Did you know that Indian nationals comprise the second largest international student population at Northeastern University, the vast majority of who are graduate students? To present the highly diversified culture and heritage, Indian graduate students have formed an Indian Student Association called Sanskriti, to the Northeastern community. The word "Sanskriti" means Culture.
The association aims to bring awareness to the university community about this population through a variety of social, cultural, and educational programs. This is an effort to put forward the talents of the Indian students through multi-cultural activities, stage performance and presentations. Sanskriti would also fulfill the purpose of establishing a platform for the Indian graduate students while also helping to address issues and provide an essential support network unique to the Indian/International community.
Naveen Chinthakunta and Praveen Sadhu are among the many Indian students who were actively advocating for the establishment of such an association. Sanskriti has the full cooperation from the International Student and Scholar Institute and the Graduate Professional and Student Association (GPSA). The advisor of the association Mr. Scott B. Quint, director of ISSI has been a source of encouragement in the formation of Sanskriti. The members of Sanskriti offer a support network for linking new and continuing international students from this South Asian region of the world.
